It was 2008 and the global economy crashed and I was in the best position, or so I thought.
I got to keep my job, my pay, my company paid for Benz, my benefits and Only show up when there was work - SWEET. I played golf when there was no work. One day, I teed it up and boom, down the middle with my first drive. Happy with myself and walking to play my second shot, a voice in my head said 'This is not it, You were meant to do more with your life, this may be someone else's dream life but not yours. You are meant to create more impact, touch more lives, do more with your successes and life'.
The First Mountain
Growing up in poverty, illiteracy and domestic violence, I was determined to be a success. Like most people, success was defined by career, financial, material and social status. So I set off to climb the success mountain, the mountain of career growth, financial and material gains and to be seen as someone successful to others.
The foundation of this success was 'getting a good...
Do you believe its better to put other people first and put yourself last?
Think deeply and go beyond what your logical mind is saying.
Have you realised that putting other people first is not the best strategy for your growth and happiness?
Have you realised that even though its awesome to give to others and great pleasure is derived from giving, that you cannot give from an empty cup and you need to put you first in order to really give to others?
So what caused you to believe that it is better to put yourself last?
What was your Original Sensitising Event? I had two.
As a kid I did not get the attention and recognition that I wanted. As kids we develop certain coping mechanisms and beliefs in order to 'survive' what is going on with us. I (and I have found many other people) as a kid decided that one sure way of being loved and getting the attention that I wanted was to put others first and focus on doing things that I thought would make them happy.
Putting others first in...
Did you know most people, regardless of their position or stature have one problem or another?
Did you know the Root Cause is almost always the same?
Did you know that most of us have suffered some form of emotional trauma in our lives?
Imagine having a special formula that can be used over and over for most situations and challenges?
You don't need to Imagine it : Path To Freedom is a proven process to get to the root cause of any problem/challenge you may have.
I have coached senior officials in the United Nations, CEOs, Executives and even a Senator and they all have one thing in common, an incident (What we call the Original Sensitising Event) which cause some form of emotional trauma to which they form a Belief and they Act based on the Belief.
Emotional Trauma does not have to be as bad as the word 'trauma' suggests. A kid being left back at school with all the other children gone home can be trauma for the child and they may form a BELIEF like 'I am not good enough' to be...
Did you know that Procrastination has increased 5 fold over the past 3 decades?
Did you know that as much as 75% of university/college students procrastinate on doing their coursework and homework?
Do you procrastinate?
IMAGINE a life where there is no hesitation or procrastination and you just get on to doing the most important things in life.
YOU don't need to imagine anymore! Path To Freedom is a proven program to get to the Root Cause of your procrastination and eliminate it once and for all.
In our experience, there are usually 2 main causes of Procrastination:
1) Self Doubt - where does self doubt come from? Do you see most children under 5 years showing self doubt? - No! So what happened?
Self doubt is usually formed through 2 main processes:
Emotional Trauma - an event (Original Sensitising Event) that usually causes some emotional pain. This usually happens in childhood but...
Did you know that Tiger Woods was 2 shot behind at the start of the final day of the 2019 Masters?
Did you know that the leader (Francesco Molinari) starting the final day won the British Open in 2018 and actually played with Tiger when he won?
Did you also know that there were as many as 12 excellent players in close proximity that could have won the 2019 Masters?
But Sir Nick Faldo (a former champion golfer), said at the start of the final day that the person in the best position to win the tournament was Tiger Woods.
Do you know his rationale for making that statement?
He said that Tiger's nervous system knows how to win because he has done it already.
Most people will not understand this but that was a deeply profound statement.
In the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Covey said that one of the habits of successful people is to BEGIN with the END in Mind.
Simple but profound.
It suggests that before we begin in our journey of success we must know what the END FEELS...
You intelligent and a very hard worker.
You have great dreams for yourself and your family.
You know deep inside that you can accomplish more.
So what's really holding you back?
You have tried the good books, seminars, yoga, meditation etc and while these were good experiences (and something you should continue) it really did not hit the spot.
While we need to change our behaviours and actions to get different results, this is only at a surface level.
What do I mean by surface level?
This is the anatomy of transformation:
For example, I was not recognised by my parents (dad more importantly). He never said congrats or well done when this little Shane would have done something that a little kid should be proud off. This is an example of an Original Sensitising Event.
This Original Sensitising event created several BELIEFS:
Do you know what your most underlying motivation is?
I think this is a really important question and if you find the answer sooner rather than later, you could make a lot of progress in your career and personal life.
When I was 25, someone suggested to me that I should start a business as I might be stifled in the corporate world.
This was the mid 1990s and my idea then of business was bricks and mortar. I thought that I would have to be the first in the business, be there all day to supervise staff and be there at the end of the day to lock up etc. This was not my version of life.
What I did not realise at that time was that my most underlying motivation was FREEDOM and it always has been.
To figure out your real motivation behind a goal that you have, you should be able to go several levels deep in asking yourself why do you want to achieve that particular goal. So think about a goal that you have and ask yourself why do you want to achieve that goal. When you have an answer, that...
Have you ever thought about starting your business and think that you have to figure it out all by yourself?
Do you think that you have all what it takes and you can figure everything else out by yourself?
Do you think that you can utilise all your years of professional career experience to build your business?
I understand why you might think so but trying to do it all by yourself is one of the biggest mistakes that you can make when trying to start your own business.
It can leave you feeling misunderstood, alone, and isolated.
Without accountability, it's all too easy to let life pass without taking action.
I made the same mistake when I was now starting up but when I changed my mindset, everything changed. So many people who want to start or have started business also suffered the same challenges. The interesting thing is that people seldom apply what they learn to their own business. I have a Masters in Strategic Thinking but initially thought I could 'wing it'...
Do you want to start a business but worried if it will generate the expected income?
Do you want the business to generate enough income to eventually replace the income of your job?
Are you worried that your investment may not pay off?
Here are ---------- ideas to contemplate that will help you put some logic to you worries.
1) Have you seen anyone successful at the business you want to be successful at? Are the skills, expertise and experience that you have valuable? If you search well enough you will find other people who are successful at the business you want to start. Therefore money could be earned from your business idea! You just need to have the right strategy and develop the right mindset.
2) Have you seen people earn significant money regardless of the state of economy? Hopefully the answer is yes and the fact is that if your business is really focused on solving problems then it will thrive even in a bad economy because there are more problems in a bad economy and more...
How do you measure success?
Do you think the measure of success varies from individual to individual?
That might be so but let's face it, most people still quietly define success by the amount of money they or people earn.
Would you rather earn a little less and have more free time to spend with your family and do the things you love to do?
Would you rather earn a little less and be able to travel and spend a longer time in a new country than the occasional keep-it-short-or-get-fired vacation?
Would you rather earn a little less but do something you are really passionate about than earn more and do a soul-sucking job?
Imagine a life where you are doing what you love.
Imagine a life where you get to spend more time with your loved ones.
Imagine a life where you get to travel and have the time to really experience the culture of new countries.
Imagine a life where you can do all of that and still earn enough to afford to do all these things.
You don't need to Imagine...
